In one of his books Vladimir Kaplan cites the following situations which cause an automatic draw in Pool Checkers:
1) Thirty moves without promotion or capture.
2) Three time repetition of the same position with the same side to move.
3) Three kings against one, the one controlling the long diagonal and five moves pass.
4) Three kings against one, the stronger side controlling the main diagonal and thirteen moves pass.
5) Two kings against one and ten moves pass.
I have several questions:
a) are these the official rules of Pool Checkers (yes, I already e-mailed Mr. Blaine).
b) Is the draw automatic or must it be claimed? In other words if a referee spots it, should he declare the game a draw or wait until a player claims it?
c) How do the drawing rules in Russian, Brazilian and International Checkers differ?
This came up in Gold Token as we are discussing in a forum the 13 move rule (number 4 above) and I discovered the others in Kaplan's book.

Re: Draws in Pool and other variants of checkers
I agree Pedro, this is an important concideration. Right now, draws must be claimed at GoldToken if an opponant is not willing to agree to one. But if we need to make it automatic, then it is most important to find out.
