"Why Not Brighten Up an Old Checker Duffers Day"?

Post by Mr. Checkers »

 One of the men that I have most admired in checkers was Earl Hangen. Over the many years we have corresponded back and forth (although I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person). Earl in his quiet way has left his mark on checker history--. Most of you know him--especially the Mail Players. In recent year Earls health situation has declined rapidly--and unfortunately for us he has had to give up a position in checkers that he has held for many years--. Earl now resides in a nursing home in Pa. And after visiting with Jay this afternoon Jay suggested that Earl would surely love to hear from the checker fraternity and all of his old checker buddies. So for those of you who would care enough to brighten Earls day by sending him a short note, pictures, an MCA Checker Newsletter, an ACF Bulletin or a nice thoughtful card here is his current address---Mr. Earl Hangen, c/o Country Meadows, 1800 Tulpehocken Rd., Wyomissing, Pa. 19610. I am sure that this gesture of friendship would be greatly appreciated by Earl--so give this some sincere thought and prayer. Take care and God Bless. "Mr. Checkers"

 Most of you have plenty of time to post on this forum. Why not take a little time away from the forum to send Earl a nice "thinking of you card"--he is not doing well in the nursing home and such gestures of friendship may help make a great deal of difference--knowing that there is someone out there thinking about him. Earl has given a lot to checkers over the years, so why not let him know that he has not been forgotten. A few minutes of your time is all that is needed to brighten his day--and yours in knowing that you have done the right thing. "Mr. Checkers"
