What do you like about checkers?: .....

What a mess !

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Just read an official announcement from WCDF President Hugh Devlin ...

I always thought that WCDF has a great ability "to create a problem on empty space" (Russian proverb), but this time they beat all records !!! Such solution as combine QT and Mind Games event is a perfect example.

Here are my some express comments on this mess:

1) My participation in China may create very unwelcome situations with 3-move title endorsement process, and generate alot of ethical problems.

2) My participation will cut off one extra place in QT for American players.

3) Jan Mortimer will need to play in Woman ty, instead representing NZ in main Mind Games event.

BTW. Does WCDF plan a Woman QT in China ? If yes, this will be in conflict with "number of players - days limitations"

4) Due to this ****** decision of our lovely Federation Youth tournament was canceled this year. Hence, who cares of ???

5) Concerning match Mortimer vs Durdyeva ... Once we have this ridiculous rule that Challenger is in full charge of organizing World Title match, the same question arise which we had 4 years ago when created WCDF: why we need Federation which is not in charge and doesn't want to be in charge and responsible for any serious decisions / actions ???

Merry Christmas to everyone !!! New Year promises to be very interesting and Challenging

Sincerely,

Alex Moiseyev

You have spoken true things here Alex.I too got the announcement from the WCDF today. It stated because there was no bid for mine and Amanguls match, it is now the responsibility of the challenger(me) to make a bid for the match.Earlier, Liam Stephens mentioned under "checkers in the Olympics" that negotiations with Amangul and Pat Breens match were still going on until 12 midnight the night before the match.
I know for a fact that Hugh Devlin does his very best, and did his very best for those negotiations, and much praise to Hugh for finally getting it organized. I have great admiration for Hugh and what he does for the checker community, so im not knocking him in any way. BUT
The WCDF if its a functioning body needs to be the head and not the tail, especially in such important matches as world matches, and need to declare the conditions months before the match begins, and have the final say in all negotiations.
I dont think its up to me as challenger to organize my own match, its up to the executive body of the WCDF.
As far as womens checkers goes, this is a sad day, when not even a bid is given, yet there is a bid for Lubabulo and Ron Kings match to be held at Medina. What does this tell women.?

1. Simple solution - don't show up
2. With the last 3 qualifiers being dominated by players from south africa, barbados and turkmenistan I fail to see the problem.
3. So ?
4. What youth players ?
5. WCDF is in charge - your argument makes no sense!

Besides the problem with you playing it is a good idea to combine the tournaments. Lets face it WCDF is not really swimming in bids and very few of the players have the time and money to play in two tournaments.

The WCDF is not an evil organisation with the secret agenda of corrupting the world of checkers - the WCDF is a democratic organisation consisting (also) of you. Boy I wish some of you american checkers players would lay of the fox news 8)

Anyway merry christmas :)
