Cheer Up - It's Christmas

Post by liam stephens »

Recent postings on the Forum have been mainly all Doom and Gloom, so let’s lighten up with a Christmas card from the bard, our good old friend the “ Prof “ - Albert Profili.

OUTRAGEOUS

“Too late, too late!” there comes the cry,
“A Happy Christmas? And it’s all by! “
But, ne’erthless, sir, now I’m here
I wish you a draughty, checkered year.
Please don’t be cross, I beg of you,
If Fife slipped up : I’ve lots to do.
Were Ryan Octopus I vow
I would have surfaced long ere now.
In my corner I’ve been doubled
Up with work and sorely troubled.
I’ve had my back against the dyke –
A posture that I do not like.
At last from work I’ve come unstuck:
Cor Blimey ! Nailor love a duck !
My Muse is back: let’s have a riot:
It doesn’t Souter to stay quiet.
(I cannot Boston my account:
I centre word “Produce, O fount !”
Delivered in a plaintive voice:
She cooked up this – I had no choice.)
Is she called Alma? Pun my soul,
It does not Mater to this scroll.
To tell the truth – this may sound silly –
Her name is really Coultry Tillie !
What did you say? Go curry it?
Go boil my Edinburgh it?
Waterloo sand screwy end
To wish on me, your faithful friend !
Now let’s have Dundee reader, please,
And let me guide you with Hall Lees
And switch you to a gentler thought
Like “ Have a stroke !” or “Go get shot !”
No doctors then would come aroun’
“Take that man off – go one man down.”
Ah, how your eyes both twin Kelso;
You’ve Made me Mill itant, you know.
Have I no friends? Am I ill-used?
I’m just the Laird a Lady refused
(She was a lass from Glasgow but
She chose another – bless the mutt !!)
Which is why YOU get this card
From Rabbie’d rhymester SCOTTISH BARRED.

Good Idea!

Here r my wishes for Christmas:

1. Peace on Earth (can Santa wrap THAT up ?),
2. Peace among checker players (can THEY wrap that up?),
3. A refutation of the Chinook "proof",
3. A bid for the Durdyeva-Mortimer match may materialize,

Anyway:

Frohe Weihnachten!

Merry Christmas to all of you,

Ingo Zachos

A sad occasion, indeed. Many fans attended his funeral in Mullingar, yesterday.
Joe Dolan was a much loved entertainer whose music will forever conjure up many memories of the showband days.
On stage, the world over, Mullingar was part of his show.
Requiescat in Pace.
