Gerry Lopez ....a great Checkerist !!

Post by Jay H »

From the ACF homepage

"Gerry Lopez has bargained good rates for us, and he was the only one who offered a National bid. Gerry tells me this will be his last Las Vegas bid, so please consider supporting what will probably conclude the “Las Vegas era” in checkers."

Mr. Lopez deserves the kudos of the entire community for his efforts !!!

Here's to this great Checkerist !!!

Hello Jay:

You are 100% right on Gerry and his efforts to promote Checkers over the years. Without Gerry we would have had no ACF Nationals this year and likely notne last year either.

Who will pick up and carry the torch for our Nationals in 2009 ? I cautioned all of you that one year the ACF might not get a host bid and then what will we do ?

All of you need to begin thinking about next year. Never too early ! Gerry I respect and admire and he has been a devoted friend to our game for many years.

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President
American Checker Federation

There are nt many people i admire or respect openly..........but Gerry Lopez is top notch, for a man of his age and ability in the draughts world ,i often wondered where he got his energy from when most players/organisers were taking it easy this mans love of the game is top drawer for all the Tys he organised ,and thats from somebody from afar who has only met this gentleman a couple of times.I say Gerry ,Gerry Gerry......................is best

Hi Jay, I get what you are saying yes that he did do. Im doing ok thanks for asking I hope things are good with you. As for my comment the delete feature not being in the making gets me sometimes. Kinda like life I guess when you say something you can't take it back. Gerry is a great guy and did set the tournament up for everyone I will leave it at that. But if we are thanking people we need to thank everyone that was involved with that particular tournament is that fair to say? If Gerry sees this or his family im truely sorry. Billy
