Calvin a draughts player -- " I have read that on one
occasion a deputation was sent from this country to
consult Calvin about something; on the Sabbath
forenoon they went to hear him preach, and were
greatly delighted, but, on going to his house in the
afternoon, they were scandalised to find him playing
a game of draughts " -- Extract from a letter written
