Halsam Checkers

Post by mmarchesseault »

My 105 year old Grandmother recently passed away and I inherited the ol' checker board and checkers. My children have asked me what is the building that is embossed on the back of these Halsam wooden checkers and I don't recognize it. Does anyone know?

It's missing King Kong and the airplanes but that's the Empire State Building alright!

mmarchesseault and John and Pal,

Well, shoot, I don't know guys, it's hard to tell, but because of the gargoyles on the corners of the first and second rise it looks a lot more like a stylized depiction the Chrysler Building (same neighborhood, more-or-less, of course) to me.

Besides, the extremely setback five-step architecture doesn't look right for the Empire State Building. On the checker photo, I can't see the point on top well enough to identify if any of the Chrysler Building's unique arches are shown, but they might be (very good photo, very lousy vision, alas).

(added): On second thought, it actually doesn't look right for either building.

Oh, well, Just an observation...quite possibly wrong.
