I am not sure I understand your remark, but Grandmasters, Masters and Experts - different subjects, with different criteria's, names etc. This topic named "Who is ACF Master ?", previous topic was named "Who is ACF Grandmaster ?"

BTW. What do you think about Barbados National titles ... lets say Barbados Grandmaster or Barbados Master. Do you think this will have promotional and motivational value ?

Kent, you probably missed my point. No one "brings" this idea to Barbados. If you (and other players) like it - you have to set it up on Barbados. Push your Federation authorities (BDA and / or BCDF) to do some work. This national title is strictly in your (Barbados) hands. You can setup your own criteria's for norms and make your titles stronger or softer than WCDF or ACF. That's all yours.

However, it is a very good, interesting question: what is more respectable and important - International Master or National Grandmaster ? Probably the correct answer is - each title is respectable in different way.

There are 3 ways you can award people with titles:

1) Performance + Rating. That's what we are planning to use in ACF

2) Performance only. I think we have this in WCDF.

3) Recognition.

Federation Exec committee just makes personal, individual decision about awarding people by titles. In small community everyone very much well knows - WHO is WHO. In this case Federation can use this less formal (but still accurate !) method.

i get you now . last year the then president did ratings but not norms or titles. we have diffrent President now so would have to put it to him.
i was going forward to be on the board but at last min i change my mind.

i think the world cup should be advertise more alitte low key.
