Checkers in NY

Hi to all

I will be travelling to the US NY & NJ for work next week and was wondering if checker players still met in Central park, and were the main checkers activity is in NY?
Can anyone help here please?
I may have some spare time, and if anyone would like to meet in NY or NJ for a game or two then let me know
