Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Here are several of my games from TN 2026 which I recently played in Lebanon
_________________________________________________________________________
Round 2, G1. J. Morrison vs A. Moiseyev Opening: 11-15, 23-19, 9-13

11-15, 23-19, 9-13, 22-17,(A) 13x22, 25x11, 8x15, 21-17, 5-9, 17-13, 9-14, 29-25, 4-8, 27-23, 8-11, 32-27, 14-18 (B), 23x14, 10x17, 19x10, 7x14, 27-23, 3-7, 25-22, 7-10, 24-20, 10-15, 31-27, 2-7 (C), 27-24 White Wins

A.I tried this trade just for fun and variety. It doesn't look and more orse then adopted 22-18 by published play.

B. Certainly, no cigars! Even if this move doesn't lose the game, but certainly put black on very defensive mode.

C. See diagram1. Strange enough but only here black made a losing move 2-7? Curiously enough but 6-10* stiil save the game.

Round 3, G2. A. Moiseyev vs S. Mays Opening: 11-15, 23-19, 9-13

11-15, 23-19, 9-13, 22-18, 15x22, 25x18, 7-11, 19-15, 10x19, 24x15, 5-9, 26-23, 12-16 (A), 29-25, 1-5, 30-26, 2-7 (B), 25-22 (C), 8-12, 15x8, 4x11, 27-24, 6-10, 24-19 (D), 16-20, 32-27, 10-14, 22-17 (E), 13x22, 26x10, 7x14, 31-26, 3-7, 26-22 (E), 7-10, 28-24, 11-16, 18-15, 14-18, 15x6, 18x25, 6-2, 9-14 Black Wins

Diagram 3. White to move and draw

A. Kingsrow opening book considers 1-5 here as best, but personally i don't see anything wrong here with 12-16.

B. See diagram 1 before 2-7. More likely 9-14 or 3-7 is safer reply here, considering next note.

C. Missing a strong pitch 28-24* forcing black to accept pitch and having comfortable position !

D. See diagram 2. Indeed 22-17 is best, however surprisingly enough, 19-15 is still a draw. Continue, 11-16, 15-11, 16-19, 11x2, 3-8, 23x16, 14x32 and now either 2-6, 2-7, 21-17 or 22-18 leads to man down draw. Very nice.

E. See diagram 3. 26-22? here loses as played in the game, but 19-15* allows white to escape.

Round 4, G2. M. Holmes vs A. Moiseyev Opening: 12-16, 22-17, 16-20

12-16, 22-17, 16-20, 24-19, 11-15 (A), 17-14, 15x24, 28x19, 9x18, 23x14, 10x17, 21x14, 6-9, 26-23, 9x18, 23x14, 1-6, 25-22, 8-11, 29-25, 6-10, 30-26, 10x17, 22x13, 7-10, 26-22, 11-15 (B), 19-16, 10-14, 25-21, 14-18, 22-17, 18-22, 17-14, 22-25 (C), 14-10, 25-29, 10-6, 2x9, 13x6, 29-25, 16-11 (D), 25-22, 27-23 (D), 3-8, 11-7, 8-12, 23-18, 15-19, 18-15, 22-18, 15-10, 5-9, 7-3, 9-13, 6-1, 19-24, 31-26, 4-8 (E), 10-7, 8-11, 7-2, 11-16, 1-6, 18-23, 26x19, 16x23, 6-10, 24-27, 10-15, 27-31, 2-7, 23-26 (E), 15-19, 26-30, 7-11, 30-26, 3-7, 26-22, 11-15, 22-26, 7-10, 26-30, 32-27, 31x24, 19x28, 12-16, 15-18, 16-19, 10-7, 20-24, 18-15, 30-26, 7-11, 26-23, 11-16 White Wins

Diagram 3. 18-22* the only draw ..... Diagram 4. 23-26? loses

A. Kingsrow opening book suggests here 9-14.

B. See diagram 1 for reference. Here where fun begins!

C. See diagram 2. After 22-25 black pick a hard way to go. Instead, 2-7* was an easy way, forcing white to play 16-12 first and after then black plays 4-8-11 and White Kings powere will be limited.

D. Both 16-11* with following 27-23* put black on very defensive mode where they should play very carefully and delicate for draw.

D. See diagram 3. Black now have to rush before white Kings get back to arena. 18-22* was the only drawn move here, but he played 4-8? which can be beaten by 1-5*. However, I also missed this opportunity having only several seconds on my clocks and rely on 5 seconds increment.

E. See diagram 4. He played losing 23-26? here allow me immediately to play 15-19* and holding both black mans on 12 and 20. Instead 23-26, 31-26 and 31-27 allow black to escape.

Round 6, G2. T. Stanley vs A. Moiseyev Opening: 9-14, 22-17, 11-16

9-14, 22-17, 11-16, 25-22, 16-19 (A), 24x15, 10x19, 17x10, 6x15, 23x16, 12x19, 21-17, 7-10, 29-25, 1-6, 25-21, 3-7 (B), 17-13, 5-9, 22-17, 9-14, 26-23 (C), 19x26, 30x23, 8-11, 27-24, 4-8, 24-20, 8-12, 32-27 (D), 15-18, 20-16 (E), 11x20, 23-19, 7-11 (F), 19-15, 10x19, 17x1, 19-23, 27-24, 20x27, 31x24, 23-27, 13-9, 27-31, 1-6 (G), 11-16 (H), 24-20, 16-19, 6-10 White Wins

A. Hence, he doesn't make my life easy and don't miss a chance to trade pieces!

B. See diagram 1 - I assume basic landing for this opening.

C. See diagram 2. Here I spent reasonable amount of time looking for chances. White has many good plans here with 26-23, 27-23, 27-24 and even 26-22. However - nothing significant. Finally I sticked into 26-23 trade going potentially into white pitch which happened in the game.

D. See diagram 3 before 15-18. He definitely had an easy 11-16 trade here cleaning the board. However it seems like he didn't see what happened next after 15-18 which seems to be a win for black if white doesn't have a pitch 20-16* as happened in game.

E. Here we go ! It is still a draw but now white got some chances going into promising ending

F. Correct way to respond top pitch. What next for white ?

G. Going into not easy ending for black, where several black pieces hold on - 2, 11, 20

H. Final error - any other black move (2-7, 11-15, 12-16, 18-22, 18-23, 31-26, 31-27) is still a draw !
