"Indiana Basketball and Checkers"--answer
Indiana is well known for its basketball enthusiasm--for it is their state sport. But Indiana also has a checker heritage from years ago. "Checker Trivia question of the Day". What was that special heritage? (Cont.)

Re: "Indiana Basketball and Checkers"
Indiana's checker heritage includes having many great checkers players as State Champions, starting in the late 1800s their names along with the year they won the State Championship has been recorded on the light colored squares of INDIANA CHAMPION's CHECKER BOARD, some of the Champions are Walter Hellman 1933,34,35,39,44, Leo Levitt 1948,49, our current 8 times State Champion Ronald Bailey, Dr. Richard Beckwith and Michael Holmes.
But I believe the Indiana checker heritage you are referring to can be found on the east side of Layfaette Indiana at 3200 South Street, in an old remodeled wagon wheel factory where Warren Paper Products manufactured Built-Rite Checkers.
