Congratulations to a new World Champion!

Post by Ingo_Zachos »

I now recieved this documant that clarifies the question of the Woman's World Champoinship in GAYP-style:

Announcement.
Amangul Durdyeva is World GAYP Champion!

During the past week Jan Mortimer (New Zealand) has withdrawn her
right to play a match for the vacant women's World GAYP title against
Amangul Durdyeva (Turkmenistan) due to pressing family committments.

The motion from the General Assembly meeting (2005) was for the top
two players to play a match for the vacant title. It did not make
provision for any other player to be involved should either of them
withdraw. This effectively means that Amangul Durdyeva now becomes
the 1st official women's World GAYP Champion. Congratulation Amangul!

It is unfortinuate that Jan has had to withdraw at this time but from
her consistant high standard of play over recent years it is clear
that she will be back again after a short break to make her claim to
these world titles again and we look forward to that.

Regards: Hugh Devlin. President WCDF.

I congratulate Amangul as I already did in Prague, and I am sorry for my good friend, Jan Mortimer, but I believe that she will be back on the title race in the future.

World Champions:

A) Restricted:

Alexander Moiseyev (USA), World Champion

Patricia Breen (Ireland), Woman's World Champion

B) Unrestricted:

Ronald King (Barbados), World Champion

Amangul Durdyeva (Turkmenistan), Woman's World Champion

Note:

Four different countries from three different continents (and we had even a title contender from a fourth continent: Jan Mortimer (New Zealand)!):

The WCDF at least "at the Top" has become a World's Organization.
