Ed Bruch
I just recieved the new ACF bullitin and reading the back of the first page I noticed that it said Mr. Bruch was part of the invasion of Normandy beach on D-Day, did I read this correctly? I just found that pretty exciting.

Re: Ed Bruch
As far as I know - Ed Bruch continued to serve the country even after the war. I was always surprize his excellent phisical form and ability to play at the highest level in his late 80's. But one time someone told me, that Ed Bruch for long period of time used to be a police officer, and this actually explained everything !
The most interesting and intrigue thing happened with SIXTH related to Ed Bruch. I started to select my games for the book beginning 1996 National and ended up with 2004 National. Guess who was my opponent in game #1 and game #50, annotated in the book ? Ed Bruch !
I asked WCDF rating Committee to consider seriously possibility to award him by GM title. Even today he remained as a top American player #3 or #4. Amazing !
Regards,
Alex
