"The 6th"-a $45 Value for only $1

Post by Mr. Checkers »

You can't beat that. For only $1 you can buy a chance on winning a fine copy of Alex's new book--"the 6th". And I am encouraging Alan to sell you 6 chances (6 for the "6th") for only a mere $5. This is a one time only offer and the nice thing about it is that you don't have to be present at the National Tournament to win this excellent checker work. And now to sweeten the pot we will pay for the shipping (worldwide) to anyone who buys $10 worth of tickets or more (and has the winning ticket). The drawing will be coming up soon (at the end of the National Tournament) so send out those green backs to Alan today in order that you will have a chance to win.

Somebody is going to win this fine new checker work, so for only $1 it might as well be you. The "6th" will be a welcomed addition to everyones checkers library. Give yourself peace of mind by avoiding those sleepless nights and the mental stress that will come from knowing that you have not yet purchased your own personal copy of the "6th".

The National Checker Tournament will be coming up soon, so please don't forget to send in your $1 (or $5 for 6 chances) to Alan Millhone and if your number is picked you will receive a fine new copy of Alex's new book--the "6th". All monies raised will be used to promote ACF activities (the book was donated for this purpose), so you will come out to be a winner, win or lose.

Become checkeristically enlightened today and don't be left out in the dark of dama. You still have a short time to take advantage of this fine one time offer. For only $1 per chance (or $5 for 6 chances) you can win a copy of Alex's new book, "the 6th" and help promote ACF activities all at the same time. So let Alan hear from you soon. I am a bit confuse. From this original post by Ms. Becky this idea is appears like:

Participant pay $1 (or $5 for 6 chances) to ACF before the tournament, and drawing occur at National.

My idea was more simple and detail: at National people pay in front, before ty starts, $2 during registration and drawing is taken at the end of ty. This idea was materialized in Medina. All small detail regards raffle was discussed by me with Alan and Richard over email before the tournament.

I never heard from Alan and Richard about the second (first ?) donation for raffle.

As soon as I arrived to Medina on Saturday, June 17, and came to the playing room - I saw raffle announcement and box for tickets / money. I went back to my car, pickup copy of SIXTH and putted it on the table near box. It was on this table the whole week. I never seen any other copy, and never heard about potentially two drawings and two prices.

Some time before Mr. Checkers paid $45 and asked me to pass one extra copy of SIXTH to Mr. Millhone - and this is exactly what has been done. Even when I gave this copy of book to Alan, I was completely unaware it's final destination.

Otherwise I would never cross Ms. Checkers with raffle idea, and would find another way to help ACF.

Anyway ... As Richard mentioned, ACF made a good saving - approxinately $50, and this is most important thing and happy end of this story.

I want personally to thanks Ms. Becky & Mr. Checkers for their fine promotion my book and supporting ACF.

Respectfully,

Alex

Alex the title of this posting really stands out. Perhaps I should have posted it in "Bold Type". And from what has happened here perhaps future ACF donations should be put into writing, signed by all parties involved and then have it notarized.

Alex your English may be broken, but there is nothing wrong with your eyesight--you are not blind. And with that in mind you can't deny that you did not read or was not aware of the above postings and others like them that promoted you, your book and the raffle that was to be held at the National Checker Tournament. I thought that we had this matter settled via our phone coversation the other night--lets not turn this into a former websites verbal extravaganza. You can be right about everything that transpired concerning this matter over the past few months--. And we will inturn know the truth--. I learned a long time ago (after 20 years of marriage) that a person does not always have to be right--sometimes it was just better to say nothing and avoid a confrontation with your wife.

This is exactly what I missed from your posting. It was message about raffle, using SIXTH for this purpose, paying $1 or $5 in advance. There were nothing in this message about specific deal - just general idea. Again - it was my personal interpretation of your message, and it seems - it was inaccurate.

Remember - broken English works in both directions ! Not only you don't undertand well my messages, but same in opposite way - I missed your whole idea and come up with it on my own.

You was talking about payments ($1) in advance and drawing at National. It was my understanding, and I decided to make it less complicated and ask people to pay at the tournament.

Also - from your part it was a question only to ACF. On my party I pushed it down to Richard and Alan, get them involve, approve it and execute. They knew - what we are going to do, and what should happened.

Lets put it this way - I helped to get YOUR idea to be materialised and become a real deal. Would this work ?

Regards,

Alex

Alex I talked to Alan many times via email and on the phone about our raffle--and he liked our idea of having a raffle (which tells me that your idea of having one was not yet presented to him). He mentioned that he would provide the tickets etc. for it. I asked him a week before the Nationals about how many tickets he had presold. And the reason for encouraging players to buy tickets ahead of time was to make the raffle available to everyone of the 500 plus ACF members, which was why I stated that they did not have to be there to win and if they did win we would pay the postage to have the book shipped to them. Only you and Alan and myself were involved in setting up our raffle; therefore don't ask us to accept your contention that you were not aware of it. Please have a nice 4th of July.

Of course I were not aware at all ! Where I can get this information ? I didn't see anything in forum clearly define it, and haven't heard anything from Alan about this. It was probably your intention, but I missed it.

Maybe other forum correspondents help us to resolve this issue.

Did anyone who read Ms. Becky postings regards raffle had a clear understnding - what was proposed and how it works ? Did anyone paid a $1 to participate ?

Respectfully,

Alex
